3 Big Reasons To Use A Dog Boarding Facility During Your Next Vacation

Posted on

Do you own one or more dogs? Are you currently making plans to go on vacation in the upcoming year? For many people, it's a time-honored tradition to take their pets with them when they travel. While this is certainly an option, it's also not the only option nor is it necessarily the best option. There are a couple of other options, including getting a dog sitter for your furry friend or taking your canine companion to a boarding facility. While leaving them at home may also be tempting, arguably the better option is going to be to take them to a boarding facility. There are a number of reasons for this, including:

Play: When you hire someone to watch your dog, they may come over a couple times a day to feed and walk your dog, but may not do much beyond that. This can leave your pet feeling bored and restless, potentially resulting in damage to your home as your dog takes out its frustrations on your personal belongings. When you take your furry friend to a dog boarding facility instead, your belongings are obviously automatically protected. In addition, many facilities have ample playtime with either the facility employees or with all of the dogs together.

Responsibility: When you pay someone to come over and look after your dog, you don't always have any guarantees that they will actually do so. If they should fall sick and are unable to even get out of bed, they may either not have anyone to call to help take over the responsibility or it may completely slip their mind due to their illness. This can leave your dog hungry and thirsty for an indeterminate amount of time. With a dog boarding facility, there are multiple employees. If one employee calls in, there are others who are able to come in and take their place. This means that your dog will never go hungry or thirsty for very long.

Cost: If you are worried about the cost of taking your canine companion to a dog boarding facility, it's often quite comparable to getting someone to come over to your house to care for your pet. You can often find places that offer discounts on the nightly rate if your dog will be staying for a certain number of nights or if you will be housing two or more small dogs together in the same kennel at the facility. This makes leaving your dog at such a facility to be extremely affordable.
